Capcom Ask Our Opinion on a Resident Evil 2 Remake!
For years Resident Evil fans (such as myself) have been nagging Capcom to give us that Resident Evil 2 remake, with the kind of passion and ability to mix things up as we saw in the original Resident Evil remake for the Nintendo Gamecube from 2002, which was later remastered this year.
Well now it seems that Capcom has been hearing our pleas an in a surprising and unexpected Facebook post earlier today, they’ve asked for our “honest and frank opinion about the Resident Evil 2 Remake” and “what the brand identity is supposed to be about?”
If I was going to answer that question personally (which I did in the comments section of the Facebook post), I want it to happen and I want it to return to its pure survival horror roots, which I believe is a common belief shared by the Resident Evil community.
Below is what was posted on the official Resident Evil Facebook page:
This is Capcom R&D Division 1!
First off, we would like to express our deepest appreciation to all Resident Evil fans, for your passion, enthusiasm and continued support for the Resident Evil brand.
Enthusiasm for a Resident Evil 2 Remake is something we’ve been hearing from you over the years, and has drawn some recent attention in the media.
However, as the team owns the RE brand, we’re not certain how we feel about this approach, and would like to ask your honest and frank opinion about the “Resident Evil 2 Remake” and what the brand identity is supposed to be about?
They later updated their page with the below post (which I’ve edited slightly for the benefit of grammar):
This is H from Capcom R&D Division 1!
I was told by my boss to check out the post by “R&D Division 1” on the Resident Evil Facebook page, and THIS IS AMAZING….
Thank you so much for your passion and continued support for Resident Evil brand!
He was also telling me…“can YOU make a game worth seeing to answer these fans full of passion???”
This order actually makes me SUPER excited…!!!
I hope this just isn’t a simple tease, which would be cruel to say the least. But perhaps the fan-made Resident Evil 2 remake that has recently appeared, has spurred Capcom on to take action. If you want this remake to happen and are yet to comment on the posts, then do so now on the Resident Evil Facebook page and have your voice heard.
Let’s make this happen! Out of interest, below is what I commented on the original post. I’d also love them to include the alternative scenario campaigns and The 4th Survivor missions from the original release of the sequel…go Tofu!
