Posted early this morning on the Behemoth forums was the announcement of Castle Crashers for Steam, yet to have an official release date but it did come with this poem written by Dan Paladin:

“While BattleBlock has been churning,
there’s another wheel turning!
And that wheel is Castle Crashers running on Steam!

It was accomplished by utilizing one of our programming teams!
We always liked this platform so it’s kind of a dream!

I’d say a release date but the future’s unknown.
If I make a mistake I shall never atone!

If you’re in Germany this weekend please say hi to John.
He is at Gamescom.”

The game will come with Steam Achievements, Controller support and everything you expect from the Steam interface (Cloud support, voice chat etc.)

If you are attending Gamescom this weekend then you can stop by the Castle Crashers booth (Hall 7.1, booth: C030) and try out the game for yourself or if you are attending PAX from August 31st – September 2nd you can try it out there (Booth #3003) along with The Behemoth’s new game BattleBlock Theatre.

Despite the four year gap between the release of the original Xbox 360 version and this PC edition, it’s good to see highly praised indie games still making their way across platforms for widespread enjoyment and we can’t wait for this to hit the digital shelves.
