Just yesterday Konami announced a price drop for the next gen versions of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes.  The next gen versions will now have an RRP of £29.99, both digital and physical copies, though if you shopped about before the official price drop, you could already find Ground Zeroes at a cheaper price anyway.

Well new details for Ground Zeroes have been released, which includes some exclusive DLC to be used in The Phantom Pain for those that purchase Ground Zeroes early, data that will carry over and an accompanying app.

Let’s start with that exclusive DLC.  For those that purchase the first batch of Ground Zeroes will be rewarded with excusive DLC for a ‘Mother Base’ area that will be playable in The Phantom Pain.  The exclusive DLC will be available to those that purchase the digital and physical copies of the game.

In addition any prisoners and VIP’s that you rescue in Ground Zeroes will appear in the Mother Base DLC in The Phantom Pain.  This will apparently give players “an early in-game advantage” and any character skins that you unlock will also carry over into The Phantom Pain along with the rescued characters.

If that wasn’t enough Metal Gear Solid goodness for you, then Ground Zeroes will also have an accompanying second screen app, entitled the iDROID. This is a clever combination of names representing both the iPhone and Android devices.  I’m looking at you GTA V’s iFruit app!

The iDROID app will replicate Big Boss’s in-game communications, as well as being able to call up a map of the area,  summoning air support and play any cassette tapes that you found in Camp Omega during Ground Zeroes.  You will be able to download the iDROID app free of charge via iOS, Android and Xbox Smart Glass systems.  You can checkout some images that Hideo Kojima tweeted of the second screen app back in January.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will release for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on March 18th in North America and the 20th across Europe and in Japan.
