If you already feel yourself growing tired of the same great sword animation that appears on your screen as your slay your enemy on War of the Roses then fear not, the medieval madmen down at Paradox Interactive are cooking up some gore-filled content set to be released November this year.

First of all there’s the new weaponry being added to your armoury, as if you didn’t already have enough swords to make Julius Caeser turn in his grave, all of which add a new variety of punishment; there’s the horn-spanned crossbow, War of the Roses new answer to the modern day sniper rifle, and the Hospitaller pollaxe, which for any historians might have some significance but otherwise it’s great for both smashing heads and ending lives – the definition of why ninety nine percent of people bought War of the Roses. The history side is nice and appreciated, but I tend not to think of a textbook when vanquishing my foe on the battlefield. There’s also some similar heavy armour being added, which comes with ten customisable paint options, though for most of the time you’ll only really be able to see blood red and not a lot else, along with one new helmet and a few new visors.

To the relief of those that have put many hours into the game, there will also be two more game modes introduced; with little being announced about them other than “soldiers for the houses of Lancaster and York will soon learn to value their lives“. Joined with the addition of two more maps; both set in Winter, and the promised new weather mechanic it shall definitely be something to watch out for this quarter.
