Courtesy of some exclusive images via The Daily Mail, the first behind-the-scenes images for the Tomb Raider movie reboot have been released, which look to be straight out of the videogame reboot from 2013.  If you’re familiar with the Tomb Raider series, in particular the legendary videogame series, the images seen below will be instantly familiar.  The comparisons should come as no surprise, as it has been widely spoken that the movie reboot will be influenced from the 2013 reboot and the new Lara Croft will be played by Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina, The Danish Girl, and Jason Bourne).

If you look closely at one of the images, you’ll see Lara sprinting across what looks to be a wrecked plane wing, again, something that can draw comparisons from the 2013 reboot.  While I’m all for it being influenced from the said reboot, I do hope that it tells a more original tale; otherwise it could all become very predictable for fans.

The movie is currently scheduled to release in 2018 and will be directed by Roar Uthaug.  You can also read our reviews of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition here and Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration here.
