Assassin’s Creed III Rumours

Sometime late last night, a promotional art image was leaked onto the internet, reportedly by a Best Buy employee. The image in question regards Ubisoft’s next entry in the Assassin’s Creed series.

Judging from the image below, Assassin’s Creed III will take place during the American Revolution. The image [via Kotaku] features an assassin in front of the original Continental flag. The protagonist appears to be Native American, but it’s unclear.  Some of the main clues are; an Assassin’s Creed “A” shaped tomahawk in his right hand, a Native American style bow and arrow (complete with quiver) as well as the design on our hero’s leather boots. Also, take note of the Revolution style revolver in his other hand. It’s safe to say that Ubisoft might be trying to change up their Assassin’s Creed formula by leaning more towards long range weaponry. What’s not clear, however, is if this assassin will be skilled in the use of the Assassin Creed staple weapon, the Hidden Blade. If you look close enough it could be there, but I wouldn’t put money on it.

With Ubisoft previously stating that the title has already been in development for three years, the character concept and design is unlikely to change, that is if this image is authentic of course. There’s still time for subtle changes to be made however, as the title won’t be releasing till this October.

Assassin’s Creed III currently has a release date of October 30, 2012.
