Back in 2017, Trusted Reviews received some documents regarding Red Dead Redemption 2, but they held on to those documents as they wanted to ensure that they were genuine before leaking them to the public.  However, following the recent release date delay, a batch of new screenshots were revealed that tied into some of the alleged information that they received and now they believe that information they received last year, could very well be genuine.

The information includes details on singleplayer quests, vehicles, and more.  The multiplayer information reveals details on various modes (which include a Battle Royale) and many activities to partake within its massive open-world.

Now I believe the fact that Trusted Reviews has held on to this information since last year and wanted it to be validated somewhat believe releasing it, makes this alleged information appear more genuine.  On a personal note, I know the writer of this article from Jordan’s time at Push-Start, and I have no reason to doubt this information.  But as with any alleged leaked info, there must be some level of scepticism, just in case.  However, the information seems genuine to me at least.

You can check out my summary of all the information leaked below and you can read in added detail over at Trusted Reviews.  But what do you make of all this information?  Are you excited to play a Red Dead Redemption 2 themed Battle Royal mode?  Let us know in the comments of our social media channels.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will release for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 26th 2018.

SINGLEPLAYER:

  • According to their leaked documents, they confirm that Arthur Morgan is the lead protagonist and that Dutch Van Der Linde is the leader of Dutch’s Gang.
  • Locations in the map include familiar places such as Armadillo and Ridgewood.
  • Like GTA V and GTA Online, the map of RDR2 will be populated by NPC’s and business owners such as undertakers, gunsmiths and general store owners.
  • As with the original RDR, you will also be able to partake in a variety of gambling activities to earn (or lose) some extra cash.
  • There will be Slum Market’s, selling items at reduced prices and will appear in accordance to the games day/night cycle.
  • Vehicles for both online and offline will include mine-carts, handcarts and horse drawn-carriages. There will be a variety of types, offering additional speed and armour.  Though Trusted Reviews are unsure as to whether vehicles will be customisable as seen in GTA V/GTA Online.
  • You will be able to travel via train to locations across the map. It will be interesting if these trains get hijacked while you are travelling in them.
  • Trusted Reviews did state that they do have some further solo campaign details, but they do not wish to spoil peoples experience by revealing that information, which I agree with.
  • Side-activities include Horsemanship challenges that will increase your rider tank. When fishing, various fish types can be found across the map, depending on the region.  So I’m guessing that will also apply to the online experience.  You can also purchase a selection of baits, tackles and worms to use when fishing.
  • Plants and herbs will return, offering you many crafting possibilities.
  • The game will allow you to play in first-person mode if you wish, during singleplayer and multiplayer.
  • Dead Eye will return with “enhanced abilities” which includes “tracking bounties through fields and detecting which fish and animals are available nearby.
  • The game will also feature random events, perhaps not to different with the Strangers and Freaks missions in GTA V. These might include bounty hunts and treasure hunts with a mysterious stranger.
  • There is even possibilities of having different missions , dialogue and outcomes compared to other players, as some events might unfold differently, depending on which and how you interact with some NPC’s. How you morally approach certain missions could also alter the potential outcome and interactions.
  • The game will feature a wanted level, which can increase and decrease, as seen in other Rockstar Games titles.
  • How or what body parts you injure of an NPC, could trigger contextual dialogue and can even result in different information being given, depending on the quest at hand.

MULTIPLAYER

Multiplayer modes include:

Battle Royale – Expected to capitalise of the PUBG and Fortnite phenomenal by Red Dead Redemption 2 having its own form of the popular mode.

Revive and Survive – Two teams fight one another with a limited amount of time for your teammates to revive you before the downed player is eliminated.

Money Grab – Two teams fight against one another to claim bags of money located in a central area of a set location within the map, players must then return the acquired money back to the base as quickly as possible.

  • The world of Red Dead Redemption 2 will be open for players to freely explore, similar to that of GTA Online in GTA V. However, it is said that the RDR2’s open-world will be more in-depth with NPC’s decorating their storefront and pack items away during nightfall, for example.
  • Players can buy from these shops to stock up for when on quests.
  • Quests may have added bonuses, for example, being rewarded by killing an enemy with a bow from 100 metres away.
  • Instead of apartments seen in GTA Online, players will be able to own and upgrade tents with a “variety of different themes”. Though it wouldn’t surprise me if we could still buy housing properties as seen in the original Red Dead Redemption.
  • There will be Free Events, allowing players to spontaneously organise treasure hunts and deathmatches, and so forth.
  • Just like GTA Online, there will be a companion app which includes mini-games such as poker. Though I hope this app runs more smoothly then the GTA Online app at launch and hopefully we’ll have no Apple time exclusivity period.
  • Online side-activities will include gold-mining, fishing, herding and a variety of weapon based challenges.
