According to reports at Kotaku UK, multiple sources have stated that Activision are currently working on a Spyro the Dragon Trilogy remaster with the announcement expected to be made in March and the game is said to release Q3 2018.

The remaster collection is expected to be similar to that of the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy that released last year with improved visuals, assets, animations, cinematic’s and soundtrack, it will also include a new save feature and have PS4 Pro support.  Spyro the Dragon Trilogy Remastered will be developed by the same team that worked on the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and will naturally include the PS1 originals; Spyro the Dragon, as well as Ripto’s Rage and Year of the Dragon.

It is expected that with all the rumours flying around that Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy has a one year timed exclusive deal on PS4, before making its way to other platforms later this year.  It is also expected that Spyro the Dragon Trilogy Remastered will also have a one year deal on PS4 with multiple platform releases to follow in 2019.

While the Q3 2018 release window is a little vague, a source claims that the remaster will release in September, which falls in line with the 20th anniversary of Spyro the Dragon, which makes a lot of sense.  As always, we’ll update you once we hear something more concrete information.
