Thanks to a reliable source of Kotaku, screenshots have been leaked for one of the two Assassins Creed games releasing this year.  At the beginning of the month information was leaked on NeoGAF revealing possible themes and locations for the next series of games, at the time it was believed that one of the games will be set in either London or Paris and that it had the codename Assassins Creed: Unity.  It is also believed that a Villa style management system will return, like the one that featured in AC: Brotherhood.  You can check out the thread on NeoGAF by clicking HERE.

Now let’s get back to the images that were leaked to Kotaku, which seem to back up the information that appeared on NeoGAF.  Ubisoft will be releasing two AAA Assassins Creed games this year, but for now they only have codenames.  AC: Comet will release on the PS3 and Xbox 360, and AC: Unity will release on the PS4 and Xbox One.  While it’s likely that at least one version will release for the PC, there is no word of a Wii U version as of yet (that’s not to say it won’t release).  The leaked images are believed to belong to the new gen’s AC: Unity.

It is believed that AC: Unity will be set in 18th century Paris and the images feature iconic Paris locations  such as the Notre Dame, the Seine River and other Parisian landmarks.  While the images are from a very early code (and they may not be the best of quality), it seems apparent that the game is looking very detailed at this very early stage in development.  You can see the images for yourself below.

Having two different Assassins Creed games has been met with some very mixed reactions, in which both sides of the argument have very strong cases.  On one hand, having two different teams develop each game for each generation, it will mean that no version of the game should have any compromise as they won’t have to share development time and as a result, both versions should be of a high standard.

But on the other hand, you can understand why some fans believe that Ubisoft’s milking of the franchise has gone a step too far.  Is this decision by Ubisoft purely on the basis of having both games reaching their maximum development potential or is it a ploy to lure loyal fans into buying two AC games?

We’d be interested in hearing your thoughts on the leaked images and the decision by Ubisoft to release a game for each of the generation consoles.
