Last month it was sadly announced that Sony would be shutting down the Guerrilla Games Studio based in Cambridge, while keeping their main base of operations alive and kicking in Amsterdam.  However it seems (myself included) missed some information that may have inevitably revealed that the development team are working on a new Killzone title.

Killzone: Shadow Fall was a launch title for the PlayStation 4 back in September 2013 and scored quite favourably with us gaining an 8.0/10.  But since that time, other than releasing DLC following its release, news on the series has been pretty much dead. So this news may come as welcomed gossip for many.

The news was apparently first discovered by Twitter users AlphaFoxWarfare and KillzoneRocks after Dutch news media outlet, Parool.nl covered a story regarding the closure of the Cambridge branch.  Thanks to a Google translate, a piece of the article read “Guerrilla, where 270 people work, was acquired in 2005 by Sony. Now it is working on a new Killzone.

Now of course Sony hasn’t confirmed this news from their official channels and nor would they at this point and apparently according to the individual that first noticed this information, he also posted the news on Reddit, but claims the news was removed from Reddit within an hour.

At this point it’s all hearsay at this stage, but I would hazard a guess that the next Killzone has already been in development for some time and if that is the case, hopefully we’ll hear something more concrete at E3 or even the PlayStation Experience this year.  We’ll update you when we hear more.  In the meantime, we can look forward to Guerrilla’s Horizon Zero Dawn releasing March 1st in the UK.
