The latest rumour from the next-gen rumour mill is that Microsoft might be planning for another mind-blowing turn-around!! This time however, it’s not about Kinect or the price. It’s about the self-publishing. Microsoft and the Xboxs are known for their policies that don’t let developers publish their own games. That policy has remained on the Xbox One much to the disappointment of many independent studios. Which means some of the more exciting titles like Day Z and Oddworld New N Tasty wouldn’t be able to bring their games to the Xbox One.

But if this latest rumour turns out to be true then independent titles may start to appear on the Xbox Live Marketplace. This Wednesday Microsoft are holding a Build Conference in San Francisco. The Build Conference is an annual meeting aimed at Software Developers working with the company’s tech. It’s at this meeting that a second change in their policy might be taking place. Superannuation put up a tweet recently:

Also Markus ‘Notch’ Persson (Minecraft) tweeted: ‘I know something about this, but I’m not allowed to say. :(‘ However, we are unable to embed that tweet in this article because it has since been deleted! All the strange evidence is starting to mount up that something is happening. We can add to that growing evidence that when the invitations to this conference were sent out pre-E3, the gaming press were told that the event was PC and mobile only. Now the event has expanded to encompass the Xbox platforms. Why add the Xbox is there’s nothing to announce?

Of course, this is all rumour at the moment and we can’t take anything as gospel. But with Notch’s tweet being deleted and Microsofts now famous turnaround regarding the Online DRMs on the Xbox One, this rumour has more ground to stand on. As soon as we get something more concrete, which sounds like it should be around Wednesday, we will let you know!! Until then let us know what you think about Microsofts possibly turnarounds? Good idea or is this just showing desperation? Tell us in the comments!
