Thief 4 to Bypass a Generation?

Thief 4 was officially announced way back on May 9th 2009. In the gossip section of the latest Official Xbox Magazine (via CVG), the gang speculate that this long awaited sequel will likely be featuring as part of the “Durango’s” launch software.

Master thief, Garrett, used to be the go-to-guy for medieval clandestinity. Both Thief and Thief II: The Metal Age were seminal stealth games, popularising a more subdued way to play. Whilst it would be permissible to regard Thief: Deadly Shadows as somewhat of a misstep, to see no title this generation is certainly surprising.

As reported by CVG, Eidos Montreal’s job listings reveal that the studio responsible for Deus-Ex: Human Revolution are working on a next generation action game with “stealth” and “player choice” as key components. This seems to point in all the right directions, however these tenants could as justifiably be applied to a new, unannounced, Deus-Ex title.

These rumblings currently remain conjecture. The trip back behind the hood is still as elusive as its shady protagonist.
