Skyrim Hearthfire DLC Now Availible for PC

Gold in Skyrim got a bit pointless after a point – you’d bought all the Elven-Gold-Dwarven Hammer Axes of Death that could fit on your wall and after that there’s little else you could do. Even with 15,000 coins in my bank like a tramp hording coppers, I still found it impossible to spend it all. In the end I took to physically throwing coins at people just to see how they would react. Sadly the bloodbath money scramble that I remember from the school playground didn’t kick off, but there are very few things better than hitting Ulfric Stormcloak in the face so many times that he could open his own branch of Natwest.

Hearthfire is the new DLC for Skyrim, new being used in the same way that if you went to Tesco and bought a mouldy loaf of bread the only way it could be considered ‘new’ is simply the date on the receipt. It’s been out on console for a few weeks now and finally it has arrived here in the comfort of your own PC. This installment of the Skyrim DLC allows you to purchase land, upgrade a home, do an Angelina Jolie and pick up an orphan two. Now before any trolls come out let me announce something – giving your house an extra bedroom and sink so that Lydia can continue to wash all the pathetic valueables you’ve collected over the millenia it feels you’ve spent in the game doesn’t count. Imagine this to be a Sims expansion pack, but instead of it being a new sofa you can build entire mansions, and instead of taking out a mortgage just to afford all the bloody things it’s a one-off that only costs £3.49 from Steam.
