Alien Isolation Follow-Up Is a Mobile Game

Prior to The Game Awards at the backend of last year, Fox created the Twitter accounts with the handles @AlienBlackout and @Alien_Blackout, which of course sparked rumours that a new Alien game might be on the way.

Then via the Alien Anthology Twitter account, they sent out a tweet with a short clip featuring the star of Alien: Isolation and daughter of Ellen, Amanda Ripley.  The footage shown also looked to be from a videogame, which ended up being true, but perhaps not for the kind of videogame that most of us had hoped.

As it happened, this tease for a new Alien game starring Amanda Ripley is in-fact for a mobile game.  Developed by D3 GO! Famed for the likes of Marvel Puzzle Quest and Magic the Gathering: Puzzle Quest, Alien Blackout will be coming to compatible Android and iOS devices.

Not that it will make me feel any better about this reveal, but here’s the official blub on Alien Blackout:

The terror of Alien is brought to life in ‘Alien: Blackout.’ Try to stay alive while trapped aboard a crippled Weyland-Yutani space station carrying a deadly Xenomorph as it tirelessly hunts you and the crew. Outsmart the perfect hunter by making perilous choices. Players must rely on the damaged controls of the space station or risk sacrificing crew members to avoid deadly contact, permanently altering the outcome of the game.

Survive seven fear-inducing levels by remotely guiding Amanda Ripley’s crew through increasingly challenging tasks using only the station’s emergency systems. The uncertainty and unpredictability of both the alien and her crew can impose total defeat for Amanda and the entire station.

Hopefully the brilliant Alien: Isolation (here’s our review) will get the console follow-up it deserves or perhaps what was hinted at back in January 2018.  In the meantime, you can check out the trailer for Alien: Blackout below and let us know what you think of it all.  Alien: Blackout will be available to download from January 24th.

You never know, Alien: Blackout might be a decent mobile game and I’ll at least give it a go later this month, but right now, I’m off to sulk.
