Update: Campaign successful and all stretch goals achieved – Resident Evil 2 board game launches on Kickstarter

Update 2 – 23/10/17: The campaign has now finished and was a full blown success, blowing its initial target out of the window and achieving all the stretch goals by reaching more than £800k worth of pledges!  Now the Steamforged Games will get pressing on with all the hard work in the aim of getting the Resident Evil 2: Board Game released by late 2018.  Well done folks!  However, while the campaign is now over and you missed out, if you get in there quick, you can still get your order in here via a Late Pledge.

Update 1 – 16/10/17: The Kickstarter campaign is now within its final stage in its last seven days.  The campaign is doing great as it has now exceeded the £600k+ plus mark, which not only means that the campaign is a huge success, but it pretty much seals the games existence and it also means that loads of stretch goals have been unlocked, and there’s no doubt more to come before the campaign ends next week.  So if you want to bag yourself this awesome Resident Evil 2 board game, as well as getting some exclusive Kickstarter exclusive pieces, now’s the time to show your support and back the campaign.

Original Story 27/09/17: I’ve only backed two projects on Kickstarter thus far, Shenmue III and Daymare: 1998, both of which are video games, however, my next backing comes in the form of a board game, which is a first for me.  Created by Steamforged Games, the board game in question is based upon Resident Evil 2, which is a co-operative game between 1-4 players.  It will feature an evolving mechanic from enemies, buildings, obstructions and paths depending on the cards that are dealt, so every game has the potential to be different from the last.

The board game will also include some awesome miniature figure pieces, which have a blank canvas for you to paint if you wish.  At the time of writing, you can either pledge to the project an amount of your choosing with no rewards or by backing £70+ (the Early Bird pledge has expired), you’ll get the board game, with a B-Files expansion set, an exclusive “Leon Alternative Model” and the more the project is backed, more Stretch Goal rewards will be unlocked to be included in your £70+ pledge.

You can watch the Resident Evil 2 – The Board Game trailer below and you can check out the Kickstarter page with all the pledge and milestone details here.  At the time of writing, the board game currently has a release date of September 2018 and currently has a backing of more than £300k with 25 days to go
