Finally we now have a release date for Hideo Kojima’s first game since leaving Konami; we’ve also been gifted with a new and extensive gameplay trailer and various snazzy editions of the game that we’ll be able to pick up at launch.  Firstly let’s get the release date out of the way, as Death Stranding will be releasing exclusively for PlayStation 4 this year on November 8th.

Now let’s get on to the various editions you’ll be able to pick-up, as well as the pre-order bonus’ for all.  By picking up any edition, including the Standard Edition, you’ll get a code that includes a Chibi Ludens PSN Avatar, the iconic logo of the new Kojima Productions, as well as a Death Stranding PS4 Dynamic Theme.  Additionally, all pre-orders will receive Gold versions of in-game items such as Sam’s Sunglasses, a Hat, a Speed Skeleton (increases protagonist Sam’s movement when equipped) and an Armour Plate (which gives Sam added damage protection when equipped).

The Special Edition will include all the above DLC, as well as the digital soundtrack, a behind the scenes digital documentary and a Steelbook case.

The Digital Deluxe Edition includes all previously mentioned pre-order DLC, as well as a Gold Power Skeleton (enhances Sam’s ability to handle heavy cargo), GoldLudens MaskSunglasses, Gold All-Terrain Skeleton (enhances Sam’s ability to balance on uneven terrain) and a Gold Armour Plate (a Level 2 upgrade).  The Digital Deluxe will also include the digital soundtrack and the behind the scenes documentary.

Lastly we have the Collector’s Edition, which includes all pre-order DLC and Digital Deluxe Edition content.  In terms of physical items, the Collector’s Edition will include a steelbook case, a Life-Sized BB Pod Statue aka the creepy baby in a jar, a Bridges Cargo Case as seen in-game and a Ludens Keychain, as well as a full soundtrack album of Death Stranding.

Oh and course we have the new gameplay trailer, which lasts for more than eight minutes in total.  In it will see how Sam will traverse across the terrain, we see the face of the mysterious gold masked character seen in previous gameplay videos and we even see some motorcycle gameplay.  We also get a glimpse of some signature Hideo Kojima stealth gameplay, third-person gunfights, some backpack management and more.  And we learn that the BB Pod’s that carry the creepy babies are used as a bridge between our world and some form of demonic world.

You can enjoy the new gameplay trailer below, as well as some words from Hideo Kojima.  Death Stranding will release for PlayStation 4 on November 8th.

People have created ‘Walls’ and become accustomed to living in isolation.

“Death Stranding is a completely new type of action game, where the goal of the player is to reconnect isolated cities and a fragmented society. It is created so that all elements, including the story and gameplay, are bound together by the theme of the ‘Strand’ or connection.

“As Sam Porter Bridges, you will attempt to bridge the divides in society, and in doing create new bonds or ‘Strands’ with other players around the globe. Through your experience playing the game, I hope you’ll come to understand the true importance of forging connections with others.
