After it was leaked by a retailer, as revealed by PushStartPlay two months ago, the Destiny: Game of the Year Edition has now been officially announced by Activision and Bungie.  Well, in-fact it won’t have the GOTY tag, but instead will be called Destiny: The Collection.  It will include the base game, as well as all expansions pack released, including the forthcoming Rise of Iron.  So in one big Bungie bundle, you’ll be getting Destiny (base game), The Dark Below, House of Wolves, The Taken King and of course Rise of Iron.

Destiny: The Collection will cost just £49.99, which isn’t bad at all considering all the content that you will be getting.  Also, if you own The Taken King on PS3 or Xbox 360, you will be able to upgrade to Rise of Iron on PS4 or Xbox One for $40 (likely around £30-£35), though you will have to remain within the same console family for all you progress to carry over.  To upgrade from last-gen to new-gen, you have from now, until January 31st 2017 to do so.

Destiny: The Collection will be available for PS4 and Xbox One on September 20th and by pre-ordering this collection, you will also gain access to the Black/Silver Iron Gjallarhorn and the Gjallarwing Sparrow from select retailers (so it’s not just restricted to those that pre-order Rise of Iron on its own).

You can watch Destiny: The Collection trailer below to give you a glimpse of all the content included.

Courtesy of the PlayStation Blog, further details on the PlayStation 4 exclusive content has also been revealed, which will remain exclusive to the PS4 until “at least” Autumn 2017.  The PlayStation exclusive content will include a questline called “Show of Strength” to receive a Timeless Tereshkova Ship, as well as a new PvP map and Strike.

Quest line: Show of Strength

“While you serve the Vanguard in the Plaguelands, I wonder if you’d be so kind as to help me understand the more brutal aspects of the Devil Splicers’ brand of worship.” – Tyra Karn

Reward for Quest: Ship – Timeless Tereshkova

You are but the most recent entry in Cosmodrome’s long and legendary history.

The PvP map “Icarus”

Location: Languid Sea, Mercury
This Golden Age solar farm on Mercury has remained un-touched by the Vex for reasons unknown. The Vanguard has denied petitions from various weapon foundries to research it until the Warlock orders have finished their surveys first. An exemption has been granted to Lord Shaxx and his Crucible: the Guardians are free to utilize Icarus as a live-fire training zone.

  • Icarus is a mid-sized PVP map compatible with any 6v6 game mode.
  • The outer perimeter features a circular flow mixed with long sightlines and close-combat environments.
  • The main chamber’s closing doors provide a fast, but dangerous, path through the center of the map.

If that wasn’t enough Destiny goodness for you, a developer diary video has been released that features the folks at Bungie talking over the content and improvements that we can look forward to, including the inclusion of private matches in PvP.  We also get to see some of the enemies within the campaign story, Strikes and the highly anticipated Raid, which will be playable from September 23rd.  We also get a glimpse of the new social space Felwinter Peak and how Guardians must fight for what is there’s.  In truth, the video reveals quite a lot and if this doesn’t get your Destiny juices flowing, then I don’t know what will.  You can watch that very developer diary video below.

A huge batch of screenshots has also been released, which includes the new armour gear, the new social space at Felwinter Peak, Crucible maps, the Strike “Wretched Eye“, weapons, the Private Match User Interface and some concept art.  You can check out all those images below.

Destiny: Rise of Iron will be available on September 20th for PS4 and Xbox One.
