It’s not a great sign, especially considering the title’s impending launch.

To be fair, this has always been the case with “Tameem May Cry”, the concept never comprehensively won over the crowd. True, Dante’s follicular dispositions account for much of the grief Ninja Theory have received, but a more earnest approach to storytelling, simplified mechanics and an aesthetic design rich in blatant metaphorical flourishing unlikely helped matters.

This new CG trailers offers little on a variety of fronts. Not only does it divulge no new information about the gameplay or story, the actual video quality and choreography seem markedly inferior to both older Devil May Cry titles and earlier DMC promotional material. The thrust of the video involves Dante walking into a bank wherein everyone turns out to be a demonic bad guy who needs slaying.

That’s right. We see what you’ve done there, Ninja Theory. Bankers are bad, we get it. You truly are at the bleeding edge of social commentary.

I had a conflicted relationship with the demo, but I feel that there’s a good game somewhere under all of this mind-liberating.

The trailer is below and Dante hits shelves January 15th.
