Drakengard 3 – Details & Trailer Revealed!

Drag-on Dragoon 3 (Drakengard 3 for UK and NA) is a hyper stylistic hack and slash blood rush with a deep and twisted story in which the main character Zero, tasks herself (as in she chose to do this) with killing her sisters One through Five. Each of her sisters has fallen into lustful disdain, letting themselves be taken by dark temptations such as sexual pleasure and gluttony. Each sister has a very unique personality and is particularly dangerous in their own right, all of them are fighters in their own way. The part that makes them most interesting is their individual drops into lustful disdain and reprehensibility is not that dissimilar from the natural progression of human nature when one follows the path of the deadly sin.

Zero – The Heroine and main character of this game, she and her sisters, the Utautai, govern one of their own individual areas in the land. Her left arm is a Prosthetic. Zero has had the toughest of lives when it comes to people, mainly men. She has had nothing but bad experiences with trust. She believes that there are no humans who wont betray or hurt you. She has had nothing but whippings from her mother, to the point where she doesnt feel anything as light as the rain on her skin, she has no friends and no loved ones, or anyone that she could let get close enough to be betrayed by.  Zero is a name more fitting for this characters’ feelings as much as her physical well being. Zero is an Intoner, a person who can manipulate magic through song,  and she is the oldest and most powerful of her sisters Utautai. She wields four weapons, A sword, which is a mainstay of the series.  The spear has a slightly longer reach than a sword, but it is slightly slower in attack speed however. Zero also uses her fists, while not overly powerful, they are a combo chain nightmare for ‘one on one’ close quarters combat.

Lastly the Chakram, not a powerful weapon by any stretch, but it can hit multiple enemies very quickly so it would be a great form of crowd control. Zero’s Task for herself is the systematic murder of each of her five sisters, the other Utautai, who have fallen in her eyes to human sickness’ such as lust, greed, envy and sloth to name a few, Zero herself deeming that she must in some way cleanse this from them by removing their lives entirely. Each of the Utautai sisters has a symbol on their head indicating a number, Zero being the oldest lacks a symbol.

 

One – Very little is known about One outside of heavy spoilers that I would rather not seek out myself. In her prologue to the game, she is the exact polar opposite of her sister Zero. She is very intuitive and has a strong sense of justice. She is also extremely intellectual.

 

 

 

 

 

Two – The blue haired sister of Zero governs the Country of Sand and is commonly known among her sisters as the “cool” one of the group, and also the young beautiful one. She tends to act more like a young boy than a blue haired sought after young beauty that others consider her to be. It was her cute innocence that attracted attention the most, waylayed only slightly by the fact that she had a raw brute strength near unmatched by any of her sisters, which explains her huge blade.

 

 

 

Three – Considered the laziest of the sisters and by far the most easy going, but also the most beautiful of the six. She is popular and very chilled out which has gotten her a rather, eager following amongst the soldiers of the forest country that she governs. She has no interest in things she holds in little value to herself, but she has a deep and fixated interest with things that she holds within great value.

Anything she mildly cares about she simply ignores entirely, but she is attached at a near disturbing level to things she loves, one of which is dolls. She has a diary, in which she goes into daily detail about the exploits of the doll and its adventures with her, one such adventure involves cutting the mustache off an unsuspecting but extremely nimble old man in high shoes they call Octa. With regards to her older sister Zero she cares so little she has essentially chosen to ignore her, despite the fact that Zero has vowed to slaughter all her sisters with no remorse at all. She is a skilled Necromancy Intoner.

 

 

 

Four  – Is known among the Utautai as the caring sister and governs the mountainous area, she is the one who spends most of her time acting as the mother of the group, running around after the gluttonous Five and cleaning up the mess, sewing the clothes and fixing up the place with almost obsessive compulsion. Her motherly nature has nothing to do with her age, being the second youngest, but to do with a mixture of natural born etiquette and tone, mixed with her immensely suppressed personality, which harbors some twisted thoughts of her siblings. She has got a dark, somewhat sadistic attached to her persona, three is considered the most beautiful among the sister but the most lazy mentality toward herself however.

During her time with her sisters she has created a negative thinking style about her own persona. She considers herself to be the least appealing of her sisters. The gluttonous Five has a large pair of assets , Four stating that if she had Three’s natural beauty she would not be wasting it on being as lazy as she is (showing that even Four craves men for much more than just gratification). But she is also very jealous of the young and boisterous Two who acted more like a young boy than a girl. Fours kind, gentle demeanor quickly subsides when pushed past the brink, especially about her lacking physical traits, and has snapped before, wishing death upon each of her sisters because of her jealousy in a fit of fury.

 

 

Five – The Avaricious and Lustful of all the sisters has “Fallen” the furthest by Zero’s standards. She has great confidence and greed, and relentless cravings, but the moment she obtains what she desires, her interest is lost. She loves to allude to her sex life, and like the other sister she has one aspect of her physicality that stands out from the rest. Her breasts grow at an extended rate and don’t  seem to stop. She revels in this and allows men to admire her voluptuousness with eager fervor. Despite her outward sexuality she does harbor a deep longing for a father she never had.

 

 

 

 

Mikhail – Mikhail is a Dragon that speaks, and Zero’s companion throughout the games. Somewhat childish in his nature, Mikhail is a youthful dragon of immature demeanor and doesn’t tend to comprehend most the adult conversations or jokes that come between the many conflicts of Zero and her sisters. He feels, unlike wyverns which he openly despises and considers lesser beings, about his actions with Zero, and like Micheal before him, Mikhail wishes only to be useful, instead of being regarded to as “Damn Dragon“, or “You“.

 

 

 

 

Four Apostles – Are four powerful people used to serve or aid the Utautai sisters. Eventually they all fight for Zero, but each Apostle starts off with one of the other sisters and have varying reasons for their services, most of which has to do with each of the Utautai’s individual Intoner abilities.

 

 

Cent – A loyal man to Utautai Two, Cent is a smart directed man who serves Two with the promise to protect her smile. A suave and perceptive realist who is well aware of his duties and surroundings. He sincerely wishes to devise a future which will please everyone. When he is with Zero however, he is out of Two’s Intoner spell, and subsequently loses his perceptive selflessness and reverts to his selfish youthful persona in which he cares little for intelligence or helpfulness toward Zero, and acts up like a small child, even with normal speech.

 

 

Octa – a wizened and experienced Apostle who offers imperative knowledge for the party. He is faithful and prompt in his duties. At the same time, Octa is also highly promiscuous; he can overlook age, the number of participants and even race if it means obtaining the pleasure he desires, leading to an intimate moment with a Horse. He served Three, never approving of her Necromantic Intoner spellls,  before joining Zero in her quest.

 

 

Decad – Compared to the other apostles, he is a gentleman who has a normal personality and is courteous towards women.   He is also an extreme masochist who turns pain and agony into his personal reward. He tries to hide his sexual fetish, but everyone knows about it. He decided to serve Four when she asked if he would die for her, an offer which he found very arousing. A similar situation to how he ended up with Zero.

Dito – While Five accepts him as her harmless sex toy, Dito loathes her facetiousness and naiveté. He is frustrated when every insult he hurls at her is accepted as a cute quirk and inwardly calls her a “stupid hag“. Dito claims to hate his job as an Apostle because of her, but seems reluctant to commit himself to completely hating Five. He longs to serve another Intoner if given the chance.

Dito is a smart and sarcastic young man with sharp senses, he is abrasive and baneful. Dito takes delight in other peoples’ pain and suffering. Like Zero, he is impatient, scoffs at anything or anyone who annoys him and doesn’t hesitate to kill. Yet he enjoys irritating her and purposefully teaches Mikhail swears and vulgar expressions to get on her nerves.

Drakengard 3 is going to be a download only game and was released in Japan on December 19th 2013.  It is slated for an American release date later into 2014 and potentially a European release shortly after.
