Final Fantasy X was released as the first fully voiced, 3D Final Fantasy on the Playstation 2 in 2002.

It is popularly acclaimed as one of the best games of the series, with some of the best voice overs from a stellar cast of well known actors of the time, and some of the best music that composer Nobuo Uematsu had created to date.

This trailer shows the old music from 2002 and the newer and more updated version of said music a’la Final Fantasy VII Advent Children style, complete with bigger orchestra and electric Guitar. This has become the trademark of Musician and composer Masashi Hamauzu who has been remixing the music since Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII back on the PSP.

For me the music was fine as it was, having an updated version may not have been a necessity, but I do enjoy and welcome change. It would be more interesting to see what else has changed in terms of music. The long and beautiful orchestral mix of “People of the North Pole” from Mount Gagazet is a favourite of mine, I hope they did not add a guitar to that!

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster is set for an October release this year on the Playstation 3 as a double game pack and the PS Vita as two separate titles.
