Gears of War 5, Gears Tactics and Gears Pop All Announced #E32018 #XboxE3

Not one, not two, but three Gears of War games were announced at the Xbox conference.  Two seem like worthy additions, but the other is an oddball to say the least.

First up we have the main entry into the series and following on from Gears of War 4 with the revelation involving Kait during the conclusion of the game.  The story it seems will revolve around Kait quite heavily and there seems to be friction between her and J.D Fenix, the son of Marcus.  During the videos, we see that someone close to Kait has passed away, though we do not know who, and we see a new, possessed robot demon-type enemy.

[Potential spoiler]Now I’m not giving spoilers away here, as I’ve been told nothing and nothing has been confirmed, but I would take an educated guess to say that the dead person is Kait’s uncle, Oscar Diaz.  This however is pure speculation on my part.

Gears of War 5 will release sometime in 2019 for Xbox One and Windows 10, and will be included in the Xbox Game Pass at launch.

Next up we have Gears Tactics, a turn-based strategy game set within the Gears of War universe with “character-driven storytelling”, customisable squads, weapons to upgrade, boss battles, multiplayer and more.

Gears Tactics has been developed “specifically for PC gamers.”  I don’t know whether this will release for Xbox One at a later date, but for now it’s a Windows 10 title only.

Lastly we have Gears Pop, an iOS and Android exclusive game in partnership with the Funko company which creates the immensely popular Funko Pop vinyl figures.  We know very little of this odd gaming collaboration at this time other then it apparently offers “the perfect slice of mobile mayhem” and it will release sometime in 2019.
