As can be seen, the focus with this trailer is on a more explosive, fetishised sense of violence for the “original assassin”, with Agent 47 pulling off some extraordinary acts of grace in the merciless slaughter of what can only be assumed to be a hit squad of latex-clad nuns (a sentence I never thought I would disapprove of). While many adolescent males may get a kick of what’s on show, after the shockingly addictive Sniper Challenge, the lack of gameplay on show, as well as the like of stealth, is something of a let down.

I’m a huge Hitman fan, but only when being a silent assassin. The puzzles involved in pulling off the perfect ‘accident’ are what draws me to the series, not the explosions and general gunplay, there are many other games for that kind of action. Fingers crossed that E3 brings us a slower, more methodical, altogether more Hitman-like trailer.
