In advance of Thursday’s trailer release, a teaser for Steven Spielberg’s historical drama Lincoln has arrived online. Hopefully Abe will receive better treatment in this film than he did as a vampire hunter recently, but with the fantastic Daniel Day-Lewis taking on the beard there will certainly be a drastic improvement (will he finally get his long overdue Oscar?!).

Set during the final stages of the American Civil War, Abraham Lincoln clashes with his government over the abolishment of slavery.

At 43 seconds, the teaser reveals a snippet of the epic battles to come in the film, as well as a voiceover and glimpse of Lincoln himself. Whilst this seems like very little, Thurday 13th September offers the promise of the full-length trailer and a live Google chat session with Spielberg and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Looper, The Dark Knight Rises) at 7pm EDT/4pm PDT (12am, Friday 14th September for UK viewers). Visit www.lincolnmoviehangout.com for more information.

Lincoln arrives in UK cinemas on 25th January, 2013.
