It has been confirmed that the PlayStation 3 version of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will have full keyboard and mouse support.

The announcement was made last week at GamesCom by co-founder and managing director of Valve, Gabe Newell.

What this means is that there will be more variety of how to play the game on Sony’s console, allowing the option to choose between mouse and keyboard, PlayStation Move, or the DualShock 3 gamepad. Gamers who wish to play the upcoming title on the Xbox 360 will be limited to only the gamepad.

Cross-platform play has also been confirmed, however at this time, it is limited for play between PS3, PC and MAC versions, as Newell is having difficulty in convincing Microsoft to allow Steamworks in the Xbox 360 version.

With such confirmations, it seems as though that 360 fans are getting the short end of the stick out of the different platform versions of CS: GO.

The game will include five maps for Defuse mode, and two maps for Hostage Rescue, and each map will has been carefully reconstructed to look and feel like the originals from CS: 1.6  and CS: Source.

The beta for CS: GO will begin October this year. Whether this is exclusively for PC players is yet to be confirmed.
