New God of War Ascends

After being teased for quite some time now (and accidentally leaked early by Amazon), Sony have finally announced the oft-rumoured God of War 4. However, much like the handheld iterations of the series, this entry drops the number in favour of a subtitle – “Ascension”. Fear not though, for the game is planned to be a PlayStation 3 title, so expect glorious graphics, huge battles and even bigger monsters if the third instalment is any kind of benchmark. Unfortunately the teaser trailer released thus far is devoid of any gameplay, but does hint at the story to come:

The obligatory narration returns, in what is sounding to be (yet another) prequel starring a human Kratos seeking the destruction of yet more “unjust Gods”. Despite what little information we have so far colour me excited, God of War is a great set of games, and a new entry is always something to get excited about. I’m now just curious as to what new mythological creatures we can literally tear limb from limb….
