Nintendo Direct Round Up – Miiverse 3DS, Shared eShop Balances & More!

A Nintendo Direct was broadcast today, its host, Satoru Shibata, revealed a whole bunch of information pertaining to Miiverse 3DS, NNIDs, eShop balances and more.

A huge system update will go live in December and bring with it a whole bunch of new features. Firstly, Miiverse will now be available on your 3DS, along with the ability to now link your Nintendo Network ID (NNID) to your 3DS, which will share the eShop balance you use on the systems together (make sure you have the same NNID on both Wii U and 3DS, otherwise they won’t work!). This is one step closer to a better online system from Nintendo, but there’s no cross-buy for the time being. Satoru then went on to say this isn’t the only improvement to NNID and more will come in the future. Miiverse 3DS will not have communities for all games at launch, but more will be added as more software is released.

YouTube is also coming to 3DS as an official app later this month. This app will allow users to watch a video on the top screen while scrolling about on the bottom screen to continue searching for other videos. The Wii U app will also be updated at the same time and allow similar functionality.

A Bravely Default demo is now live in the Nintendo eShop and a new trailer was released alongside it. Check it out below. If you play the demo and then buy the game, all the data from the demo will transfer to the full game, so you’ll start off with a higher level party and some more items!

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds also got a brand new trailer, showing off items such as Zora Flippers as well as showing ways of getting around Hyrule and beyond. Careful though, there’s some spoilers in this trailer so if you’re wanting to go in spoiler-free, look away now. StreetPass functionality was also introduced, but that comes before the spoilers, so watch there and then stop!

Nintendo Pocket Football Club is coming to the eShop sometime in 2014. This game sets you as the manager of your own custom football team where you can buy and sell players and rise to the top of the league. Watch the trailer below.

Mario Party: Island Tour got a release date in Europe for January 17th, 2014. New information was shown and we were told about a “Time Attack” mode where you must complete 10 mini-games as quickly as possible. Another game mode; “Bowser’s Tower” is 30 floors of different mini-games and one of Bowser’s accomplices will appear every fifth floor. Also shown off was motion controlled mini-games and what you can do with the motion control capabilities of the 3DS, such as flash ghosts with a torch, steer marbles along a course and another mini-game has you control a handglider. StreetPass will also be present, with the game collecting up to 10 people’s data at a time and then you’ll see their ghost data in certain mini-games as you play the game. Island Tour also supports download play which means up to four people can play together while only one needs the actual game.

Footage of Inazuma Eleven 3: Team Ogre Attacks was shown and is set to be release February 14th, 2014. The game has the capability to link up with the last 2 Inazuma Eleven games, Bomb Blast and Lightning Bolt, which can be used to obtain special items and players.

Jett Rocket II: The Wrath of Taikai is out tomorrow on the 3DS eShop. A trailer showing off a cluster of indie games on both the Wii U and 3DS eShop was also released.

While advertised as a 3DS Direct, Wii U software was shown off too.

The Animal Crossing Plaza will be receiving an update today, allowing users to use stamps with their Miiverse posts. These stamps will resemble characters and items from the Animal Crossing series, 50 in total. Monthly polls are also being integrated where users can select a resident who they think fits the respective question. November’s question is “Who would make the best secretary?” and next month’s question is “Who is the neighbour of the year?” More updates in the future will allow you to add your Animal Crossing: New Leaf residents to the plaza, as well as being able to move and delete multiple pictures and saving them attached to Miiverse posts.

Pikmin 3 DLC now has additional stages for Mission Mode. Completely new stages include natural environments such as beaches as well as man made environments, like the inside of someone’s house. Captain Olimar is also playable in one of these stages, and if you rescue Louie, you can control him too so you can be more efficient while playing and achieve a better score. Eight stages will be available to buy December 2nd, 4 Collect Treasure stages and 4 Battle Enemies stages. On the same day, the software will need to be updated which will gift the player with two free stages, 1 Collect Treasure stage and 1 Battle Enemies stage.

To conclude, a new Super Mario 3D World trailer was shown off, telling us “Ten New Things About Super Mario 3D World“. While definitely showing off the game’s good side, there’s a pretty big spoiler near the end, so if you want to be kept in the dark, I suggest you don’t watch the trailer.

That’s it for today’s edition of Nintendo Direct.
