Persona 5 has missed so many release windows that many were fearing it was going to miss the vague window of 2016 and release next year. Fear not though, because thanks to a new trailer and an event in Tokyo we now know when the game is releasing… in Japan at least. On September 15th Japanese gamers and eager importers can be gleefully playing one of the most anticipated JRPGs in years.

Yes, that’s right, Persona 5 is out in September, the same month as Final Fantasy XV. It will be an interesting battle to see what will have JRPG supremacy in Japan. The latter however is likely to have the better sales, due to releasing worldwide at the same time.

It wasn’t just a release date and trailer shown off at the event. We also found out the game will be appearing at E3 and we got a look at the 20th anniversary special edition that will also be releasing in Japan. Hopefully, it comes to the West as well because it looks lovely. It will come with a copy of the game, a 20th anniversary five-disc CD collection, Persona 3 and Persona 4 DLC costumes, an art book and more.

There was also mention of an anime linking to the game that will show in Japan this September before it releases. Now I’ve kept you long enough, I know you just want to sit back and watch all of that wonderful moving imagery so you can watch the trailer below. There’s also a staff interview that has even more footage.
