Announced at this year’s Paris Games Week, Concrete Genie is a colorful looking 3rd person adventure that utilizes drawing and painting in its gameplay.

A story about a boy who uses painting to deal with being bullied, it looks like it could be an emotional ride.

Along with a game trailer, the developers also released a brief introduction to the game, where they state that Concrete Genie is “about having fun with paint, and using the dualshock 4 to create amazing landscapes”.

More interestingly, the paintings that character Ash creates also come to life, with the creatures having different quirks and personalities.

I’m not sure exactly how this will all come together, but you get a brief glimpse of the paintings coming to life, and even being used to solve a puzzle by opening a gate.

The devs continue: “the goal is to make anyone feel like they can become an artist…it’s effortless and it’s full of joy”.

It’s definitely got an artistic flair to it, and it’s visually impressive from what little is on show. It’ll be cool to see what designs you’re able to create within the game – and what freedom you have to do so.

Concrete Genie will be coming to PS4 sometime in 2018. You can watch both the game trailer and the developer trailer below.
