If you know me even remotely than you are perhaps well aware of my love for all thing movies, so much so that it fights toe to toe with videogames occasionally to become my favourite past time. So, you can just imagine how interesting something like the recently announced Erica would be for me, something that seems to meld the storytelling of movies with the interactivity of games in a unique way.

The game’s story follows protagonist Erica as she is forced to come to terms with a childhood tragedy that is connected to a mysterious and dangerous killer and in order to survive must out think the killer by finding out its motive and identity. Throughout the experience the players will interact with different characters and choices that will shape exactly where the story and big reveal leads.

According to the interview from the game’s creative director, unlike most other interactive FMV’s, Erica features continuous involvement from the player as they will be in total control of Erica’s action. The main selling point of the game is Sony’s PlayLink function which allows you to use your Smartphone to perform contextual actions, such as wiping off tears from Erica’s cheeks as can be seen in the above video.

There isn’t much known about the release date but the game will be out exclusively for the PS4 with PlayLink support allowing players to utilise their Smartphone’s in order to experience the game.
