#PSX16: Indie Games You Might’ve Missed

 

PlayStation Experience 16 showed off A LOT of games. Although it’s great to see such a huge amount of games it can mean some truly intriguing smaller games can be lost in the noise. Here at PushStartPlay we don’t want that to happen so here are some smaller games you might’ve missed at PSX16.

 

Rain World

Billed for a 2017 release on PlayStation 4 Rain World has been slowly gathering steam for a while. Its art style is obviously inspired by the 16 bit era and the game itself looks fascinating. You control a slugcat that needs to hunt prey whilst avoiding enemies to stay alive. The developers promise an AI that will keep you on your toes and judging from the gameplay trailer it’s definitely not going to be easy.

 

 

What Remains of Edith Finch

A bizarre collection of tales about the Finch’s, a family from Washington State. You control the titular Edith as you explore your family’s house, trying to figure out why you are the only one alive. Each story will let you experience the day of death of a family member. It all sounds rather grim but in a very intriguing way and you’ll be able to get your hands on it this Spring.

 

 

Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles

Yonder looks lovely. It has a great style which will hopefully result in a game that’s great fun to explore. With a day and night cycle and various areas to hunt around in on your quest to save Gemea this could shape up to be a real treat.

 

 

Dreadnought

Who doesn’t love space battles? Now imagine space battles where you have a massive spaceship and crew at your disposal. That’s what Dreadnought looks to deliver and if it’s something that interests you then you can sign up to the beta here.

 

  

Pyre

The next game from the creators of Bastion and Transistor is bound to be really good.  It will have the deep story mode that we’ve all come to expect from the developers but it will also have a versus mode. You can catch the trailer for that versus mode below.

 

 

Move or Die

Are you a fan of fast paced party games focused on mini games? Then Move or Die is for you. With a new mini game every 20 seconds the game will no doubt see many arguments occurring between friends. It also comes with online multiplayer as well as local, meaning you can shout at friends not in the room too.

 

 

Windjammers

Windjammers was a cult hit back in the day. Like a fancy version of Pong with frisbees the game was a great sports arcade game. Now it’s coming to PlayStation 4 and Vita with online support and maintaining the great retro aesthetics. It will be fun to see what modern gamers think of it.
