Shadow of the Colossus Special Edition, PS4 Pro Enhancements and Comparison trailer

Bluepoint games are in charge of the daunting task of bringing us a remaster from the ground up for what is one of the most treasured games in history with Shadow of the Colossus on PlayStation 4. However, if the recent trailers seen below are anything to go by, it’s looking absolutely stunning so far.  The game will of course be even more impressive now that it’s been confirmed to have PS4 Pro enhancements.

Shadow of the Colossus will have two PS4 Pro display options.  The first option being ‘Cinematic’, which will “emphasise image quality” with 4K HDR displays and 4K image targeting at 30fps.  The second option is ‘Performance’, where the game may not be quite as crisp as the Cinematic option, but it will perform at a targeted 60fps.  You can have a detailed look at the two PS4 Pro display options courtesy of the video below.

Also, a Special Edition for Shadow of the Colossus was announced which includes a steelbook case, artist postcards, a printed manual (remember those?), a physical world map, Colossi stickers, as well as three pieces of in-game DLC such as the Ancient Bow, Cloak of Fate and the “Spotted Steed” Argo skin.  By picking-up this Special Edition you will also receive a Colossi Avatar Set and two Custom PS4 themes.  This Special Edition looks to be great value with its RRP of $49.99 (approx £40), but as a collector of stuff, I do hope that the game receives a Collector’s Edition, because it would be awesome to have a comparison statue with The Last Guardian.

Finally, you can check out a comparison video below, which compares the original PS2 version, the remaster on PS3 and the forthcoming remaster played on the PS4 Pro, as well as a batch of new screenshots.

Shadow of the Colossus will release for PlayStation 4 on February 6th 2018.
