Taken 2 First Trailer Released: “Your Mother is Going to Be Taken”
If you thought Bryan Mills’ tense Parisian ordeal was over after the kidnapping of his daughter in 2008’s Taken, you are very wrong! It’s no real surprise that, after the massive success and cult following that Taken has accrued, a sequel has been produced and its first trailer has just been released- and it looks every bit as ridiculous and fun as the original.
Taken 2 stars Liam Neeson (The Grey) once again as Bryan Mills, and his daughter Kim and ex-wife Lenore are played again by Maggie Grace (Lost) and Famke Janssen (X-Men) respectively. The father of one of the men in the Albanian sex-trade ring that Mills killed in the first film has vowed revenge, and kidnaps Mills’ ex-wife, with whom he is trying to reconcile, on their holiday in Istanbul. His daughter Kim manages to elude the kidnappers, but she must help Mills to rescue her mother. This leads to much of the same fast paced action and hysterical wailing (from the women unfortunately) that audiences experienced in the first film. In fact, the trailer gives the impression that the sequel will be very similar, but is this necessarily a bad thing? Here the expression ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ seems very applicable.
The film is directed by Frenchman Oliver Megaton, who previously directed Columbiana and Transporter 3, and will be released in the UK on the 5th of October 2012.
