Is that a chainsaw buzzing in the distance? Texas Chainsaw 3D’s latest trailer has been released, unleashing Leatherface on another group of unsuspecting (seemingly hopped-up) teens, set right after Tobe Hooper’s original 1974 cult classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It is the seventh instalment in the series.

Hopefully this sequel will do something different with the franchise, not ending up as the same old clichés we’ve seen a thousand times before. In a world of bad remakes and sequels particularly affecting the horror genre, horror audiences have become more and more numbed to the repetitive gratuitous tortured messes, so here’s hoping that Texas Chainsaw 3D can be something more.

Is this the Texas Chainsaw 3D poster, or a Slipknot mask museum?

Curiously, the film’s release will miss the Halloween slot by a long shot, slashing its way onto screens in the UK and USA on 4th January, 2013.
