The Wolverine Reborn Again In First Trailer

Logan’s back, and he’s brought Jean Grey with him. We were worried after Darren Aronofsky dropped out, but now the first trailer for The Wolverine is here and it’s looking pretty good.

It seems we’ll be seeing a more vulnerable side to Logan in his fifth big screen outing (sixth if you count the First Class cameo), as he gives up his regenerative powers. The X-Men Origins sort-of sequel is inspired by a limited series Wolverine comic by Chris Claremont and Sin City/Dark Knight Returns scribe Frank Miller in which the action is moved to Japan, where a stranger from Logan’s past returns to offer him a chance at mortality. The trailer hints at a more mature storyline than we saw in the last Wolverine movie, and considering how that one turned out, this can only be a good thing. With ninjas in the snow and samurai on a train, we’re expecting the set pieces to look absolutely fantastic when this hits IMAX screens in July.

Please don’t let us down again, Hugh.
