Will Total Recall Actually Be Completely Awesome? The New Trailer Suggests So

Sometimes I feel like I should be leading some sort of unified resistance against the endless surge of remakes that have increasingly begun to clutter our multiplexes. For instance, I still have not seen, and refuse to see, Let Me In. I consider it to be utter sacrilege and entirely unnecessary in regards to the filmmaking cause.

HOWEVER…

…since the announcement of the entirely necessary Spiderman reboot (Tobey Maguire, bleurgh), and the fact that Christopher Nolan is doing everything but directing ‘Man of Steel’, I’ve warmed to the idea of revisiting the past, but only if done with style and convicton.

It would be all too easy to say that Total Recall is a film best left alone; the Arnie classic being a staple of many of our youths. But as Len Wiseman’s Mars-less reimagining is already starting to prove (think The Wiz to The Wizard of Oz), sometimes change is GOOD. Let’s face it. Cult classic though it is, Total Recall is by no means the best film ever made. Neither will Wiseman’s remake be. But just as the original was ten tonnes of fun, this futuristic blockbuster looks set to be an absolute riot.

And yes, a three-boobied woman will feature. Obviously.

‘Total Recall’ is released on August 29th via Sony Pictures.
