Brilliant news for Switch owners as the delightful Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana has been announced for launch on Switch in Europe later in June.

The game was an excellent return for the long running action RPG series, featuring a great amount of content in fittingly flashy, fast paced action style.

It received great reviews on release back in July 2016, along with our glowing review here.

The story follows series’ regular Adol as he finds himself shipwrecked on a mysterious island.

You spend the game fighting the dangerous creatures, looking for survivors and trying to find a way to escape – discovering more about this hostile place as you go.

What impressed me most about the game, aside from being consistently charming and enjoyable all the way to the end, was the wealth of content on offer.

From building a base, to conducting raids on creature outposts, to exploring for items and gear and completing side quests, when you think the game has given all it can, it introduces something new.

Along with this announcement comes a trailer for the game’s secret/not so secret second protagonist Dana, which you can watch below.

The game will release on the 29th of June, and I would encourage Switch players with a fondness for action RPGs to give this a shot.
