Wii U Launch Titles Not Supporting Two Wii U Gamepads

Last week at Nintendo’s E3 conference, we was told that the Wii U would be able to support two Wii U GamePads, therefore players would potentially have access to three screens at once. If this sounds like it could be complex, well don’t worry as it would appear you are not the only ones, as no launch games for the Wii U will be supporting this, Gamasutra reports.

Nintendo President of America Reggie Fils-Aime told Gamesutra:

“Games need to be built that can take advantage of the two GamePad controllers,” he says. “It’s going to be well after launch for those game experiences to come to life.”

To be honest though, two screens is enough, if we look at the DS or 3DS the twin screen capabilities are brilliant and game developers use the second screen to its fullest potential, for example with Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart 7 for the 3DS, the second screen is used as a map of the racetrack. Now if we were to look at the Wii U Gamepad which has a screen twice as big as both the DS and 3DS, what else could you possibly need in a third screen? What use could a third screen be in a game like Mario Kart? It seems as though we will have to wait a long while before even game developers can figure this out, and it’s entirely possible that no one will find use for it. It could open up some more interesting multiplayer experiences, but again, we’ll have to wait and see.

Are you disappointed by the lack of a third screen for the launch games? What uses could you think of for a third screen? Let us know in the comments below.
