Finally it’s been announced! Amy Adams (Doubt, The Fighter), is to star alongside English actor Henry Cavill in Zack Snyder’s 2012 reboot of Superman. The actress, who has been nominated for an Academy Award three times, was announced via a Warner Bros. statement read by director Snyder. Adam’s snagged the hotly-coveted role due to her impeccable versatility: “We are excited to announce the casting of Amy Adams, one of the most versatile and respected actresses in films today. Amy has the talent to capture all of the qualities we love about Lois: smart, tough, funny, warm, ambitious and, of course, beautiful.”

Perhaps not the first name that I would have thought of when it comes to Lois Lane, however, Adams has proven over the last few years with starring roles in Doubt (alongside Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman), Julie & Julia, and in the dramatic indie comedy Sunshine Cleaning, that she is versatile and definitely more than capable of holding her own on the big screen. Not only that but I do think she and Cavill will fit alongside eachother perfectly. Most recently Adams was seen starring alongside Batman actor Christian Bale in the critically acclaimed film The Fighter (just one of the roles she scooped an Oscar nomination for). Whilst the specifics around the latest Superman adaptation are being kept well-hidden, what we do know is that it’s tentatively been titled as Superman: Man of Steel and is set to be released in December 2012.

Do you think Adams is right for the role? Or is there anyone else you would rather see in her place?
