Assassin’s Creed anime coming to Netflix from Castlevania creator

Announced on his Facebook page, Netflix Castlevania creator Adi Shankar has revealed that his next project on behalf of Netflix will be to bring us an Assassin’s Creed anime.  Also known for his work on Lone Survivor, Dredd, Machine Gun Preacher and The Grey, Adi announced his delight of working with Ubisoft on a series he feels fondly of, Adi said on his Facebook page:

I’m happy to let you guys know that I’ve selected my next project! I played the first edition of Assassin’s Creed the year I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my dream. At that moment I knew absolutely no one in the industry and could never have imagined that one day Ubisoft would ask me to take the world of Assassin’s and create an original story set in it as an anime series. If anyone tells you not to follow your passion in life they are wrong.

Whether this will be a feudal Japan setting that many fans have been asking for remains to be seen, but at least we know that it will be “an original story”, which means of course that its tale will not be replicated directly from any of the videogames or the recent Michael Fassbender movie.

The Netflix Castlevania series will debut this Friday.
