We got a whole lot of Disney coming up in 2014! IGN reports that Disney has revealed release dates and details for several hotly anticipated features, so mark the dates in your calendar:

The Muppets 2 – March 21st 2014

After the fabulous return of the Muppets last year, the idea of a sequel is particularly exciting. Here’s hoping the brilliant new Muppet Walter makes a return too. Comedian Ricky Gervais has signed on to be in the sequel, who has enjoyed work with the Muppets before when he sang with Elmo in Sesame Street.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier – April 4th 2014

With the enjoyable Captain America: The First Avenger and Avengers Assemble whetting our appetite for more of Steve Rogers (proving he can be handled well when Sylvester Stallone isn’t in the suit), this sequel will follow Cap as he struggles to adjust to modern life – an aspect glossed over in Avengers Assemble since he wasn’t the focus of the story. Disney has announced a 3D release for this film.

Maleficent – July 2nd 2014

Pushed back from the previously scheduled March release, Maleficent looks to be an interesting spin on Sleeping Beauty – just from the perspective of the villain rather than the protagonist. Disney has provided some of the most iconic childhood villains – The Lion King’s Scar, The Little Mermaid’s Ursula, 101 Dalmatians’ Cruella de Vil – and reviving one of the most infamous of them all should provide for an interesting film.

Guardians of the Galaxy – August 1st 2014

A revival of the Marvel comics super team, due to arrive on our screens in – yes, you guessed it – 3D. Casting and shooting has yet to commence, but we look forward to seeing more of Marvel’s awesome creations coming to life on screen. And yes – there will be Rocket Raccoon.

1952 – December 19th 2014

The mysterious Brad Bird-directed sci-fi project is arriving in 3D, and will star the fantastic George Clooney. Little detail has been revealed about the project, but with Bird striking gold with wherever he goes, we look forward to seeing 1952.

Pirates of the Caribbean 5 – July 10th 2015
Pirates… 5. Only one of them has been even remotely entertaining, isn’t this getting to be a bit much? Well, whilst they’re still making money they’re still coming! But, who knows – perhaps this instalment will see the series set right again.
