DreamWorks Animation Greenlight Croods Sequel

TheCroods

Da da daaa! DreamWorks Animation has revealed that a sequel to box-office hit The Croods has been given the go-ahead, The Hollywood Reporter details. Chris Sanders and Kirk De Micco will return to direct and write The Croods 2, and the studio is “in negotiations with key voice stars to return”, which would surely bring a huge paycheck for the likes of Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds and Clarke Duke.

DreamWorks animated features – and particularly their sequels – haven’t always been so consistent, so fingers crossed they can deliver the same entertaining humour, great performances and imaginative world as before but improve upon the been-there-done-that story. And please, please bring back the adorable Belt!

With a very busy schedule already lined up for DreamWorks Animation, including Turbo, Mr. Peabody & Sherman and How to Train Your Dragon 2 just within the next 18 months (and plenty more films in the works after that, including the anticipated Kung Fu Panda 3), we may not see a sequel to The Croods for quite some time, but hopefully in the long wait DreamWorks will cook up something really special.
