Iron Man 3: Plot Details and Guy Pearce Casting
Guy Pearce is set to be in Iron Man 3, Variety reports, although knowing his role could be construed as a spoiler: be warned before reading this article!
The plot of the film is to be based on the Iron Man: Extremis six-issue graphic novel, in which geneticist Aldrich Killian (Pearce) creates a nanotechnology, which is sold to terrorists (presumably the villain Ben Kingsley will be playing) and becomes a viral threat to humanity. Tony Stark (reprised by Robert Downey Jr.) tries his own take on the technology and has to find a way to save humanity. Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson and Don Cheadle are also set to reprise their roles.
Captain America 2 (to be released in 2014) is to be set directly after the events of Avengers Assemble, so it will be interesting to discover whether or not the same chronological placement will occur with Iron Man 3 (and eventually, Thor 2) – perhaps the events of all these sequels could all lead to an Avengers Assemble sequel?
Ben Kingsley’s exact role has not yet been revealed, but Iron Man 3’s co-production in China indicates that perhaps the villain Mandarin will make an appearance.
Production is to begin this May and the film is to be released in a year on May 3rd 2013.
