Legendary composer Hans Zimmer is set to compose the score for Christopher Nolan-produced, Zack Snyder-directed Superman reboot Man of Steel, THR reports. Snyder has previously worked with composer Tyler Bates for many of his films, including Dawn of the Dead, Watchmen, Sucker Punch and 300. With Zimmer on the scene – having worked with Nolan many times, through the entire Batman trilogy and also on Inception – perhaps this is an indication of how much of an influence Nolan has over the project.

Variety reports that Warner Bros. and DC are trying to decide whether or not to already reboot last year’s fairly unappreciated superhero effort Green Lantern. A Justice League movie is also back on track, responding to the incredible success of Avengers Assemble.

Batman is the only consistent money-maker for DC at the moment, as we anticipate a record-breaking gross for The Dark Knight Rises as advance tickets sell like hot cakes. Since Nolan has helmed this, and is now producing Man of Steel (and asserts his influence by having Zimmer on board), is it no surprise – as IGN claim in their report – that Nolan could be the go-to overseer for all DC projects? Could he be a part of the Justice League movie (possibly even direct it?), or a Green Lantern reboot, or many other DC projects? With the departure of Harry Potter and now the finale of the Batman trilogy, Warner Bros. will also surely be eager to begin a new long-term, smash-hit franchise – and it would be wise to keep a sure thing like Nolan around.

The Dark Knight Rises releases 20th July 2012, and Man of Steel releases 14th June 2013 in the UK.
