Jurassic Park 4 Gets a Release Date

Your nostalgic prayers have been answered – the long awaited revival of the classic dinosaur adventure franchise, Universal Pictures’ Jurassic Park 4, has been penned in for release on June 13th, 2014, Variety reports.

Steven Spielberg – whose multi Oscar nominated slavery drama Lincoln is just about to be released in the UK (January 25th) and who has just revealed a hiatus in the production of Robopocalypse – is currently returning as a producer, but it remains to be seen whether or not he will reclaim the director’s chair. Joe Johnston’s lacklustre instalment Jurassic Park 3 almost signified extinction for the franchise, so hopefully new life will be breathed into the series (and all the better if Spielberg decides to return).

And oh yes – it will arrive in 3D. The original Jurassic Park is planned to return to our screens in 3D too, on April 5th, 2013.

With Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver writing the screenplay, the plot details are being kept top secret, leaving everything up for speculation. Will any of the original characters return? How about seeing some of the kids from the franchise grown up? Which dinosaurs will make it into the movie? Hasn’t anybody learned by now that travelling to the park is a very, very bad idea? We can only watch and wait as more details are revealed.
