Robin Williams is set to lead in upcoming comedy The Angriest Man in Brooklyn, a remake of the Israeli 1998 film Mar Baum, Screendaily reports. Melissa Leo, James Earl Jones, Mila Kunis and Peter Dinklage are also set to star in the film, which follows an aggressive man who is told mistakenly by his stand-in doctor that he only has 90 minutes to live. As the man tries to choose how to spend his last hour-and-a-half living, the doctor begins a hectic search for him to correct her mistake. Having played a good mix of comedic and dramatic performances in the past, Williams will surely offer a great mix of hilarity and emotion. Williams said of the project:

“I read the script and said wow! I love the fact that it’s so fun and honest. The idea of being that nasty and funny is a gift.”

Phil Alden Robinson (The Sum of All Fears) is to direct, with Bob Cooper, Tyler Mitchell and Daniel J Walker producing. Jean-Charles Levy will be the executive producer. Daniel Taplitz, writer of Red Dog, has penned the screenplay.

Robinson said of the project:

“When I read Dan Taplitz’s amazing screenplay I laughed and cried until I realised that I wanted so much to see this film that I was actually eager to spend a few years of my life getting it made.”

Cooper said:

“This comedy has a unique big idea, it is universal [and] the talent of Robin, Mila, Peter, Melissa, James Earl and Phil Alden directing is a great recipe for a very special film.”

Production is expected to begin in September in Brooklyn, New York.
