Sucker Punch, the latest fantasy-action feature from Watchmen and 300 director Zack Snyder, is looking to be a big contender for the UK’s number one at the Box Office next weekend. Already released in the US, Sucker Punch, which tells the story of a young woman attempting her escape from a mental asylum through her imagination, has gone straight in at the top spot, beating off Bradley Cooper’s latest thriller, Limitless. However, following a bag of mixed reviews from America, most worshiping the visuals and action scenes but not exactly favouring the storyline, will the UK be as accommodating and willing to give the film a fair shot?

Starring Emily Browning as main protagonist Baby Doll, Sucker Punch looks to be an astounding visual masterpiece, set both in a harsh, dark reality and a manic, imaginary world. After being institutionalized by her evil step-father, Baby Doll retreats into the world inside of her mind. Whilst battling to cope, Baby Doll befriends some of the other patients including Sweet Pea (Abbie Cornish), Rocket (Jena Malone), Blondie (Vanessa Hudgens), and Amber (Jamie Chung), all of who are tough-talking, feisty, and broken young women from their experiences in the institution. It’s not long before the girls team together and plan their escape from the asylum, but with the wicked Blue and Dr. Gorski in their way, will they be successful?

Sucker Punch is released in the UK on April 1st.
