From talking to a Ball on a deserted island in Castaway to solving mysteries while looking like a greasy sopranos extra.  Tom Hanks has had a fantastic career, even in questionable films such as the 2011 Oscar fodder that was Extremely Loud and Incredible Close he has put in a solid performance.

If rumours in Hollywood are to be believed the creator of fantastic performances will be taking on the role as the creator of classic animation.  According to Deadline this is looking highly likely.  Yes, Tom Hanks is rumoured to be playing Walt Disney in the upcoming movie Saving Mr. BanksSaving Mr. Banks is the story of how Walt Disney spent 14 years persuading the author P.L Travers to sell the rights to Mary Poppins.

Hollywood appears to be feeling nostalgic recently and enjoying the exploration of how it makes it movies.  Recent successes such as Hugo and The Artist are evidence of this but given the recent casting of Scarlett Johansson in a movie about the making of Psycho we can surely expect more expose movies.

Fingers crossed that Saving Mr Banks will be as captivating and imaginative as Mary Poppins.  If all else fails a spoonful of Hanks usually makes event he dodgiest of films go down well.
