You’d be forgiven in thinking that the Uncharted movie will never see the light of day, after all, it’s had numerous delays and has changed multiple directors (six at the time of writing).  However, Tom Holland who is to play a young Nathan Drake, remains very optimistic that the movie will be a success.

When speaking to IGN, star of Spider-Man: Homecoming and Far from Home stated that when reading the latest draft script of the Uncharted movie that “it’s one of the best scripts I’ve ever read. It really, really jumps off the page.”  Holland was also excited at working with co-star Mark Wahlberg, who is set to play mentor Victor Sullivan “I think Mark Wahlberg’s going to kill it as Sully and it’s going to be a lot of fun,”.

We already knew that the Uncharted movie is to be an origins story, with Holland playing a young Nathan Drake, and the actor believes that this will be a key factor to the movie being a success and breaking the curse of poor videogame to movie adaptations.  Holland said “I think what Uncharted offers that most video games films don’t is that it’s an origin story to the games,” he added “So if you played the games, you haven’t seen what’s going to happen in the film. And if you haven’t played the games, you’re going to enjoy the film because its information that everyone else is getting at the same time. But I’m super excited to make that movie and it’s been a long time coming.

Being a fan of the Uncharted series, not to mention of Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, I really hope that this movie proves to be a success, despite its many roadblocks.  At this stage, the Uncharted movie is expected to release on March 5th, 2021, as long as it suffers no further delays.
