Rumour has it that Rupert Wyatt may be leaving Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, despite the incredible success of his blockbuster hit Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Collider reports. It is said that Wyatt feels that there is a significant lack of production time for the project, due to hit UK screens in just over a year on 22nd May, 2014. Fox has declined to comment. Whether it would make that date at all without the director would be the question on everyone’s lips if this rumour were confirmed to be true. If it is true, Fox will have to step in with a new director quickly. But would the hasty decision affect the quality of the sequel, and ruin a reboot that has pleasantly surprised audiences?

It is reminiscent of Gary Ross’ departure from The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire, when even after the brilliant reception of the debut installment in the franchise he felt that time constraints from the studio were too severe.

Following the pandemic implied in a post-credits scene of Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn will more than likely see Caesar and his band of intelligent apes beginning to talk more fluently and build their community in the wake of human endangerment.

Will you be looking forward to Dawn of the Planet of the Apes?  Who could replace Wyatt if he were to leave? Let us your thoughts know in the comments below.
