Capcom showed off its 2012/2013 line-up with its annual media showcase event, Captivate, with such games such as Lost Planet 3, Resident Evil 6 and Street Fighter X Tekken (for the PS Vita) being displayed.

Capcom had a ton of announcements at their annual Captivate media event. First up was Lost Planet 3, which was announced by the development and publishing giant that it will be released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC in early 2013:

“The extreme and unpredictable conditions that characterised the Lost Planet™ series return, harsher than ever before in Lost Planet 3. Players take on the role of Jim, a utility rig pilot who has left Earth to take on a hazardous but lucrative contract on E.D.N. III. Delivering a diverse range of gameplay, including third-person on-foot battles and intense first-person utility rig action, players will need to brave the uncharted terrain, hostile climate and threat of indigenous Akrid creatures. With a number of multiplayer modes and a compelling single player experience, Lost Planet 3 will delve deeper into the Lost Planet universe, uncovering hidden truths when it releases in early 2013.”

Attendees were also lucky to see Resident Evil 6 in action:

“the game’s development team showcasing one of Leon S. Kennedy’s missions. Full of tension, the action has Leon and partner Helena Harper searching for an escape route from the Ivy University campus, the site of the most recent bioterrorist outbreak and the zombies that now stalk its hallways and grounds.”

Resident Evil 6 will be released on consoles on October 2, 2012 with a Windows PC version to follow.

Street Fighter X Tekken for the Ps Vita will have Cross Play functionality with the PlayStation 3, allowing PS Vita and PlayStation 3 owners to go against each other. The game will also contain touch controls, local and Wi-Fi multiplayer plus Near functionality alongside all the content from the home console version.

Another first was that Captivate attendees could play DmC Devil May Cry, the latest installment in the Devil May Cry series. Members of Capcom Japan and Ninja Theory were on hand to present a brand new level of the game: “In this area, set at a carnival near the pier where he lives, Dante faces off with a Hunter Demon that has tracked down the Son of Sparda.”

Capcom announced that Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor would have a “a brand new online four player Cooperative Multiplayer Mode available“. The game is expected to be released June 19 in North America and from June 22 across Europe.

Finally Attendees could get a hands-on playthrough of Dragon’s Dogma and the recently announced PlayStation Move enabled Resident Evil™: Chronicles HD Collection.
